Thank you everyone for your kind words of support. I have had the most awful 24 hours but you have kept me going.
I have set up a private post with the full story for anyone that wants to know and get a better idea of what help is actually needed.
I am in every respect being held hostage and my child used as ransom.
Either comment below with a registered account so I can get your email address from it or DM me on Twitter with your email and I will give you access to the post. Just so long as I can identify who you are so I know it's not Batman coming to find me!
Please keep re-tweeting and spreading the word. If you read the private post you will understand why. This could happen to anyone and we are supposed to be in the EU. Oh and it's mega urgent as have to lodge appeal in High Court by the end of next week!
The fight needs to go on - somehow!

I can only assume you are in the same position that I am in. I am living in Chicago and cannot leave the country to move back to the UK with my children without my ex's consent. To do so would contravene the Hague Convention (I think). If I did so I would be arrested and charged with kidnapping and the boys would be returned to their father. I can contest legally and ask a judge to grant permission to leave but this would take up to 2 years, would involve huge legal fees (I have been quoted a conservative estimate of $300,000 but it could be more like half a million) and the boys would have to be regularly assessed by counsellors and psychiatrists etc for a judge to get the full picture. Not something that I have the money for or want to subject them to. I would love to read your full story - please email me the link to nicolacmp@yahoo.co.uk. I have also been thinking about setting up a foundation or group for mothers in similar positions, because it doesn't seem like there is anything out there to help us. It is horrifying. And I really, really feel for you. xx
ReplyDeleteOh god Yummy - it all sounds like a horrible, horrible nightmare :( It's something I've always found really frightening and I'm not even a mum. Could you add me to the private blog?
ReplyDeleteCalistroWriter@googlemail.com
p.s. I know someone who is a divorce barrister here in the UK. She might be able to answer some questions for free. Will ask what the appropriate questions are once I've read your private post. x
ReplyDeleteThis an awful situation.
ReplyDeleteI would like to read the full story if your are willing to share. You can email me at julieanne_gibney@yahoo.co.uk

I too would like to know the background if I may? Hang in there - one day things will be better.
ReplyDeleteHow awful, how unfair!!! Don't let them get you down, please! You do have your daughter after all, and one day she will be so happy and proud of you to have gone through it for her.
